Important Information To Know For Monster Mash Friday, October 26, 2018

For Parents

IMPORTANT PARENT INFORMATION

It is extremely important that you follow these instructions for the safety of your child while attending the Monster Mash:

ARRIVAL – Check In (Burton Ave)

  • CHILDREN WILL CHECK IN ON BURTON AVE AND ENTER THE GYM THROUGH THE PASSAIC ST. ENTRANCE
  • YOU MUST CHECK YOUR CHILD IN WITH AN ADULT ON THE MONSTER MASH COMMITTEE
  • PLEASE DO NOT SIMPLY DROP OFF YOUR CHILD
  • YOU MUST SIGN/INITIAL NEXT TO YOUR CHILD’S NAME IN ORDER FOR THEM TO BE CONSIDERED CHECKED IN. CHILDREN WILL THEN PROCEED UP THE RAMP TO THE GYM.
  • PARENTS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED INTO THE GYM UNLESS THEY VOLUNTEERED TO CHAPERONE THE DANCE
  • ALL CHILDREN ATTENDING MUST HAVE SUBMITTED A SIGNED PERMISSION SLIP PRIOR TO THE EVENT IN ORDER TO BE ADMITTED

DISMISSAL – Check Out (Playground)

  • AT THE END OF THE SESSION, YOUR CHILD WILL PROCEED OUTSIDE TO THE PLAYGROUND WITH A COMMITTEE MEMBER, WHERE THEY WILL BE DISMISSED WITH THEIR CLASS
  • PLEASE LOOK FOR YOUR CHILD’S GRADE/TEACHER’S NAME AND A MEMBER OF THE MONSTER MASH COMMITTEE WILL DISMISS YOUR CHILD TO YOU ONE BY ONE
  • YOU MUST SIGN/INITIAL YOUR CHILD OUT
  • NO CHILD WILL BE RELEASED UNTIL THEY ARE CHECKED OUT BY A COMMITTEE MEMBER
  • PLEASE BE ON TIME TO PICK YOUR CHILD UP

REMINDER: This is a student only event. Only PTA parent volunteers who are chaperoning the event will be permitted in the gym. If you would like to remain at the school during the dance, you may wait in the Media Center for the duration of your child’s session, after which time you must proceed to the playground and sign your child out.

FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL THE CHILDREN, BURTON AVE WILL BE CLOSED IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL (JUST LIKE ON A NORMAL SCHOOL DAY). PLEASE PARK IN A LEGAL PARKING SPOT AND PROCEED TO THE PLAYGROUND TO PICK UP YOUR CHILD. THERE WILL BE MANY CHILDREN AND PARENTS TRYING TO GET TO AND FROM THE SAME PLACE AT THE SAME TIME AND IT WILL BE DARK OUT. WE ASK THAT YOU BE VIGILANT OF THE CHILDREN AND PARENTS CROSSING THE STREETS AROUND THE SCHOOL AND PROCEED WITH CAUTION FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL INVOLVED. THANK YOU

For Volunteers

Volunteers
We will need people to assist with crowd control, bathroom watch, snacks, snack station watch, assist with games, clean up, etc.  The safety of all the children is of the utmost importance. If volunteers see children running or getting too crazy, they will assist us in calming things down.
Donation Drop Off
ALL DONATIONS MUST BE DROPPED OFF ON FRIDAY, 10/26 starting at 3:00 P.M. ONLY to the GYM! We can not take donations beforehand as we do not have anywhere to store them. If you have any issues with this, please get in touch with the chairs (at the end of the document). Please do not drop off your donation anywhere else in or around the school!

Volunteer Arrival
If you signed up to help with check in, please arrive half an hour before the start time of the session you signed up to help with. Children will start arriving early and we need to be ready to go to ensure a smooth drop off.
Volunteers who are not participating with check in should report directly to the gym (entrance close to Passaic St, you may bring your child) and check in with Dana McGill for your assignment.
Please arrive AT LEAST 15 minutes before the start of the session. This is very important so we are set and ready to go as the students arrive.
We expect that all volunteers will remain for the entire session including helping to clean up while students are being dismissed outside.
Sessions
  • Session 1 – Grades Pre-K, K and 1st Grade 5:00-6:15PM
  • Session 2- Grades 2 & 3 – 6:30-7:45PM
  • Session 3 – Grades 4 & 5- 8:00-9:15PM
Dismissal of Students
We will line the students up inside the gym, by class, where check -out volunteers for each class will walk the students outside to the playground where they will be dismissed to their parents. There will be signs on the play ground for each class. Please don’t forget to sign your own child out!
If you volunteered to check children out, please see me 15 minutes before the end of the session for your class list. I will send a separate email with further instructions to these volunteers.
